Guess who loves soccer?!

Paige started playing soccer 2 weeks ago...she loves the practice which is mostly skill-building, one player/one ball exercises. This was how she looked during most of her first game...

You see, this girl has never played soccer before...and this girl does NOT like to lose!

On the opposing team was a professional soccer-playing, mohawk sporting little boy named Theo who was making goal after goal after goal...and Paige did not like that one bit.

Check out her glare and scowl as Theo eats it...I wouldn't be surprised if she actually caused this! Oops!

So this was the first week...but good news to report, her second game was yesterday and she made 3 goals! Theo was not on her team or the opposing team...so she was thrilled. ;)

Chilly Day in September

Jill came to visit last weekend and we had some beautiful, but COLD weather on Sunday...so we decided to head up to Mount Evans to do some hiking and see some snow.
Echo Lake at the base
The wind made it necessary to wear hats.

All that cold weather and hiking made Tyler so tired...
Paige and Jill...BFF...and snow buddies!
Snowy mountain...brrrr!

Welcome Fall! Welcome Elk!

Our landlords told us that come fall we would start seeing elk come down to swim in the lake out in front of our house...wouldn't you know, on September 1st, Chris was sitting on the back porch playing Angry Birds around 7:30pm, and along came a herd of 13 elk down our street and into our yard...
They cut through our neighbors yard and went down to the lake...look, it's Nessy!

In addition to our elk sighting, we also experienced our coolest day and night yet this weekend. High 65-ish, Low 35...yikes! Fall is here.

Here comes trouble

This boy...so sweet...still cuddly...super funny...but lately, he is into EVERYTHING. His favorite things are balloons ("bloon!"), flowers ("phffff"), and Ripley (he says "awww" while lying his head on her back) as well as some of our favorites...sticking his hand in the toilet bowl, pulling things out of the kitchen garbage, splashing his hands in Ripley's water bowl, and opening the back slider screen to go outside. You can't take your eyes off this little guy for a second...good thing he is so dang cute! :)

Saxon Mountain

Chris took a solo Jeep ride to Saxon Mountain, which is outside of Georgetown. The trail is a narrow shelf road that winds you through old silver mines.

The view from the summit...

First Day

It's official...we are parents of a Kindergartner. Paige started her first day at Marshdale Elementary and boy was she ready! Not a tear was shed (by any of us ;). Rather, she marched right up to her class and joined the line in the courtyard, almost forgetting to say goodbye. (Of course, we didn't let her.) Her favorite thing so far is playground time and getting to check out a book at the school library.
These pictures were taken the morning of her first day of school.
When she returned home after the first day, she announced her desire to ride the bus. With a little trepidation, we agreed. So day two of school, we loaded her on the bus at the end of our driveway. She was greeted by Mr. Jack, the bus driver, and headed right back to her seat (again, no looking back ;).
We are so proud of her...so confident...such a big girl. Where did the time go?!
